Prior to becoming a partner at Mitchells in 1991, Tim Leeman gained valuable experience working with high growth owner managed businesses at PwC. As a partner, Tim has been instrumental in Mitchells becoming admitted into the UK200 group of practicing Chartered Accountants in addition to acting for a varied portfolio of clients.
Tim is a Chartered Tax Adviser and has always played a lead role in the majority of the firm’s one-off assignments, including for example, securing a variety of funding sources for business expansion and negotiating often complex purchase agreements and acquisitions. Tim is a member of The Academy of Experts and provides forensic accounting services to Solicitors and other professionals on a variety of areas including, business valuations, fraud and loss claims and acting as an Expert Witness.

Tony is a specialist in the Care Home sector and acts for several large Care Home groups as well as many individual Care Homes. The majority of this work involves performing due diligence assignments for existing clients or one off assignment where a home’s current accountant lacks a specialist but required skill set, i.e. essential tax planning and restructure work, bank covenant reporting.
As we have a particular sector specialism, we are able to benchmark our clients’ performance against industry norms and focus on increasing business profitability and value. By concentrating on the long term future plan, we can allow for pro-active business solutions to be implemented.

Andrew McDaid joined Mitchells at the beginning of 2008. With far-reaching experience, having worked with firms of all sizes ranging from small independents to the “Big Four”, Andrew has also spent a number of years working for a large firm of accountants in Australia, which has proved extremely beneficial when advising on International accounting issues.
Andrew specialises in supporting high growth businesses, providing them with responsive and intensive assistance to fulfill their ambitions. A key aspect of this is his in-depth knowledge and experience of obtaining finance and grant funding on behalf of clients.

Tom has spent most of his career advising family/owner managed businesses and currently acts for a number of SME businesses from new start-up companies to medium size groups. Tom also spends a lot of his time working in the Corporate Finance department and in the past few years has advised on a number of deals across a range of sectors.

Jane manages a large portfolio of SMEs with her specialist areas being Audit and Assurance, Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and Financial Due Diligence. Jane works with her clients’ management teams to help develop a strong environment of internal systems and procedures to allow them to focus on their core business activities and avoid costly problems in the future.

Rob is a specialist in the motor trade sector. He has both worked directly in the motor trade industry himself as well as advising garages and dealerships, on finance, industry regulations and commission structures.

Claire Lee has been with Mitchells since December 2003 and is a highly valued Corporate services team member, preparing year end accounts, management accounts and financial forecasts; mainly for limited companies.

Lindsey Paradise has worked at Mitchells since 2007 and worked on a large variety of clients including sole traders, Limited companies, charities and solicitors . Lindsey sees audit and accounts work as more than just compliance, instead preferring to add value to a business and really helping her clients to succeed and grow.
David is an FCCA accredited accountant, bringing more than 25 years’ experience to Mitchells’ Corporate Team in Chesterfield. He joined us in 2017 and has brought a raft of skills to the role, in particular audit experience, having specialist knowledge of the regulations and legislation within this field of accountancy.

Helen’s role within a business can enable them to save time and money, as they do not have to employ a member of staff to do the VAT or bookkeeping, enabling them to concentrate on building their business.

Julie Clayton prepares the accounts for our small to medium-sized businesses, however she also offers great versatility across all of our corporate, tax and business services. By providing hands-on bookkeeping support and the preparation of management information, Julie is able to assist clients with their current and future requirements and growth.

Daniel Morris started with Mitchells as our year-long Accounting Placement Student within Corporate Services. Since qualifying with a BA (Hons) in Accounting he has become a full-time member of the Audit team, working with a variety of our clients including care homes, academies and construction companies.
Daniel is highly proficient with Excel which has proved extremely useful in helping his clients develop more efficient systems.

Jane Gregory started with Mitchells as our year-long Accounting Placement Student within Corporate Services in 2013. Since qualifying with a first class BA (Hons) degree in Accounting and Financial Management she is now sitting her Institute of Chartered Accounts (ICAEW) exams to further her career and has become a full-time member of the Audit team.
Jane works with a variety of different clients, often visiting their premises to carry out duties such as book keeping, auditing and the preparation of limited company accounts.
University of Sheffield graduate, Alex Frain, is a member of Mitchells’ Corporate Team. She joined the firm in 2017, making the move from a leading national business advisory firm’s graduate programme to Mitchells after being attracted by the work/life balance we pride ourselves on offering. Alex is working towards Chartered Accountant status whilst delivering services to SMEs across the region.

Jodi is a member of our Mini Corporate team – helping with the accounts, producing spreadsheets and calculations to help clients make their vital business decisions. She works with a variety of clients with their day to day bookkeeping and VAT processing which saves them time and the need to employ someone else.
Jodi is also gaining experience with the tax team by helping clients to prepare and complete their Self-Assessment Tax Returns and processing payroll for clients.

Having started with us at the beginning of August, Thomas Hardy immediately fit in with the staff here at Mitchells. He is currently situated within the Corporate Services department helping staff with a variety of work in order to relieve pressure. Tom is also extremely proficient in all of the Microsoft Office programs, most notably in Excel which is proving to be a great use to the company.
Leeds Beckett University graduate Dominic Day is a Trainee Accountant within Mitchells’ Corporate Team, where he’s working towards gaining Chartered Accountant status. A former student of Chesterfield’s Brookfield Community School, Dom is a keen golfer and footballer for Brampton Rovers.

Abigail Chadburn joins Mitchells as an undergraduate placement student from the Sheffield Hallam University where she is studying Forensic Accountancy.
She works within our Corporate Services team undertaking VAT work, bank analysis and dealing with small Limited Company accounts. She also regularly undertakes forecasting for corporate clients looking for access to finance.

Brandon is our latest undergraduate placement student. He has joined us for 12 months on placement from Sheffield Hallam University where he is studying Accounting and Finance. In July 2015, Liz was awarded the Ronald Ison Medal for the candidate with the highest mark in the Advisory Paper on the Taxation of Individuals. She become a fully qualified Chartered Tax Adviser in January 2016.
Liz has worked on Mitchells for many years and currently specialises in capital gains tax advice, self-assessment, trusts, property taxation and providing tax advice to individuals leaving the UK. Many of Liz’s clients are not businesses but high net worth individuals, executors or ex-pats.
In addition Liz manages our Employer Solutions department, which aims to provide employers with all the help and advice they need including payroll processing, compliance and advice on Auto Enrolment, tax efficient remuneration packages and HR issues.

Lisa became a fully qualified Chartered Tax Adviser in January 2016 and has extensive experience of personal, corporate and business taxation.
Lisa Eyre specialises in advising owner-managed business and personal tax clients with their tax-planning in a friendly and understandable way. Including self-assessment tax returns, capital gains computations , ongoing tax planning, employer compliance and remuneration planning.
Lisa’s advisory role helps her client’s businesses to grow by removing most of the stresses and anxieties associated with dealing with HMRC and allowing the sole trader or director to concentrate on developing their business.
Job Title: Private Client Manager and Tax Specialist
Paul Hanson deals with all aspects of personal tax and has a wealth of experience in personal taxation issues having been in the industry for more than 30 years.
Paul can provide advice on a whole range of tax issues including Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax, as well as ensuring clients are aware of all of the tax saving opportunities available to them.

Wendy joined us 13 years ago and is now working in the payroll and tax department. Alongside Michael they have developed the Payroll Bureau into the fantastic service that many of our clients use today.
Wendy manages weekly and monthly payrolls for a variety of our clients, ranging from those with one employee to those who employ more than 90 staff, ensuring that all the wages are processed correctly and in a timely manner. By taking the burden of payroll administration from business owners it allows them more time to focus on their business.

Mike joined Mitchells at the age of 21 and trained in all aspects of accountancy and taxation as a Partners assistant, then in 2001 he decided to specialise in the payroll sector and CIS services. Alongside Wendy they have developed the Payroll Bureau into the excellent service that we see today, which allows clients to concentrate on their main business activities knowing that their payroll is being taken care of by the expertise provided by the Mitchells Payroll team.

Helen He joined Mitchells in April 2015 to cover a Maternity leave and is now working in the payroll department. She manages weekly and monthly payrolls for a variety of our clients, ensuring that all the wages are processed correctly and in a timely manner.

Working in the Tax and Payroll team, Mathew Nutt is assisting with the preparation of tax returns, accounts and wages preparation. His role within the firm is extremely varied.

Laura has a passion for smaller, owner managed businesses and start-ups. Laura has the necessary skills to help first time entrepreneurs build successful and thriving businesses by cutting through the jargon and helping to de-bug the myths surrounding accountancy and HMRC.
Laura’s aim is to help businesses develop a bookkeeping systems which is convenient for them and that will not only satisfy the Inland Revenue but also help the client understand the cash flow of their enterprise. She guides clients through the complexities of the self-assessment tax system and helps with effective tax planning.

John’s key areas of specialism are working with small and medium size businesses; looking for ways to minimise their liabilities, also advising and assisting with the running of the business, looking at ways to reduce costs thereby improving turnover and the overall profitability of the business.
As the manager of the Business Services department and having an excellent eye for detail, he manages quality control across the team ensuring all information leaving the office is both accurate and complete.

Margaret Noble works in our Business Services department, specialising in preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and small limited companies, preparing VAT returns and bookkeeping.
Margaret would help a business and advise when it would be beneficial for a sole trader or partnership to become a limited company or where they could save money directly by changing suppliers for example.

Michelle Titterton has been with Mitchells for 27 years! She works in the Business Services department, specialising in preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, bookkeeping, and VAT.
Michelle particularly enjoys providing bookkeeping training and believes that by helping her clients keep on top of their accounting they are better equipped to see how they are performing and identify ways to improve or save money going forward.

This vast experience over many years allows Clive to provide his clients with sound advice and constructively review their accounting results.

Holly Fleming has joined the Mini Corporate team and within the role will be assisting clients with making business decisions while working towards fully qualified status. Jill has spent more than 20 years as a Human Resources specialist working across all sectors in different sizes of organisations. Her passion is helping business owners and managers release the potential of their workforce by helping provide staff with the focus, direction and motivation to give 110%.
Well written, simple Terms of Employment, Disciplinary Procedures, Job Descriptions and staff communications are her tools, straight forward meeting plans to address challenging employee situations are her techniques. Jill is happy to provide hands on support and assist with meetings or provide coaching and materials to give managers the confidence to do it themselves.

As Practice Manager, Kathryn ensures the smooth running of the office, managing staff, any client queries and complying with all the regulatory bodies.
Having worked in our corporate department, Kathryn specialised in family/owner manager businesses and a key area was developing their management information systems, which has provided her with the knowledge to now manage all aspects of Mitchell’s internal accounting systems. Kathryn never stops though and is continually looking for ways to improve the systems in place.

Melanie Baker joined Mitchells 11 years ago as a Sage book-keeper and Sage payroll trainer. She recently returned to Mitchells after a maternity break and now concentrates her time on all aspects of in-house bookkeeping for MCABA Ltd, Mitchells Chartered Accountants, MPS Ltd and MFA Limited, with the rest of her time spent offering a helping hand to our Admin team.

Gill brings a wealth of knowledge to the team at Mitchells and ensures that all of our visitors are looked after and made to feel welcome when they arrive at Mitchells.
Over the years, Gill has worked for a range of organisations including the Blood Transfusion Service and Lloyds TSB, but in recent years she has worked in Administrative roles.

Amanda Dooley has experience in working in an office environment working locally in Chesterfield for many years. New to the Mitchells team Amanda is really looking forward to being part of a busy admin team.
Faye is one of our newest recruits and another friendly face to join the team at reception greeting visitors. Having previously worked at an Estate Agents, Faye has plenty of experience in working in a busy admin team and is looking forward to meeting Mitchells’ clients new and old.
