Covid 19 – Extension to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme

The Chancellor has today announced an extension to the Coronavirus Job Retention scheme. The scheme will now run until the end of October, however from August, the Chancellor said, employers would be asked to start “sharing” the cost of the scheme. No further details were given as to what this will mean in practice.

From August the scheme will be more flexible to support employers in bringing their employees back to work gradually, with an option being added to allow furloughed employees to work part-time if needs be.
