Qualified / Part Qualified Accountants.
Mitchells is proud to have more qualified and Chartered Accountants than any other independent practice in Chesterfield.
Like a lot of employers, Mitchells are being challenged by intensifying skills shortages and stronger competition. In this competitive and fast-changing market, it is more important than ever to stand out from the crowd to attract talent.
We know that our strength comes from our people, so we strive to ensure all our staff are happy at work. Whether it’s the friendly face you meet on reception, or the expert business advice and services we deliver daily, we know that Mitchells’ team is the reason that we continue to be recommended by our clients.
Ongoing training, whether technical or soft-skill, is a priority in the professional development of all our team, which means everyone has cutting-edge skills, systems and applications at their fingertips, benefitting both them and our clients.
Some years ago, Mitchells put in place various strategies to ensure the development of a staff pipeline for the future and it has long been their ethos to support local talent and to promote from within.
We are not just accountants though, we are business advisers committed to ensuring all our clients’ businesses grow and achieve their potential.
We have a reputation for being first class business advisers, our clients associate the Mitchells brand with integrity, client focus and service quality, and it’s important that all staff members share our vision and approach.
As a member of our accountancy team you will have the day-to-day responsibility for delivering a high quality, highly professional service to all our clients as well as your own portfolio. We firmly believe that having your own client portfolio gives greater job satisfaction as well as enabling you to deliver a more personal, and efficient, service to clients.
We are committed to delivering regular technical and soft-skill development and training which ensures you and your clients will benefit from cutting-edge skills, systems and applications, enabling you to deliver the highest standard of service.
We welcome speculative approaches from qualified and part qualified accountants. If you are interested in joining Mitchells, then please get in touch by either emailing your CV and a covering letter, in confidence, to andrewmcdaid@mitchellsaccountants.co.uk.
Liz, who once refused to train as an accountant saying, “I don’t do numbers,” is now one of the top performing tax advisers in the country.
In 2015 she scooped top honours in a national Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) exam following her outstanding performance which saw her beat more than 1,000 candidates to gain the highest marks. She was awarded the prestigious Ronald Ison Medal and the CCH Prize for the highest distinction mark awarded in the UK.
What started as a two day a week admin job at Mitchells straight after A-Levels, led to Liz undertaking an apprenticeship as a tax assistant.
Liz’s original plans on leaving sixth form were to continue to university and undertake an English Literature degree. Breaking the news that she was turning down her university place in favour of beginning a workplace training scheme was not welcomed by everyone: “The head of sixth form at my school said that it was the worst decision I’d ever make, but she was wrong, I have no regrets about leaving education and taking up a workplace traineeship. It was definitely the right thing for me to do. I don’t regret it for a second,” said Liz.
