Mitchells’ expert Auto Enrolment team is helping businesses fulfill their Auto Enrolment duties easily and cost effectively. One of which includes Somero, an American-owned company which manufacturers concrete levelling machines. Its UK distribution arm is based on Sheepbridge Industrial Estate where it employs six people.

Here, Mick Bradley, Office Manager of Somero UK, explains how Mitchells Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers helped the company fulfill its Auto Enrolment duties, making it a straightforward, hassle-free process for the UK arm of the business.


When did you start thinking about auto enrolment?

Somero’s staging date for its UK employees was 1 July 2016. When I received the invitation to the Mitchells Auto Enrolment seminar at the Proact Stadium last February, I went along to find out more. I realised at the seminar that the company should have started the ball rolling on Auto Enrolment earlier. Luckily Hari and Liz were still able to set up our scheme in time for our staging date.  They also provided advice on the postponement process. This really took the pressure off.

How easy was the actual Auto Enrolment process?

Very easy. I put it all in the hands of Mitchells and they took care of everything. They set up the company pension scheme, sent a letter to all employees and enrolled those that were eligible (4 in total).


How much of your time did the Auto Enrolment process take up?

Very little. All-in-all it took two months to get our workplace pension set up and staff enrolled, and during that period I think I devoted less than half an hour of my time to it. I left it all in the capable hands of Mitchells. Going forward, Mitchells manages the monthly administration to ensure Somero remains compliant and that we meet our obligations to employees.


Why did you choose to use Mitchells’ Auto Enrolment service?

Mitchells is already the company’s accountant. The firm manages our payroll, end of year accounts and undertakes audits amongst other things. We have a good relationship with the team and it made total sense to me for them to provide our Auto Enrolment Service too. I haven’t been disappointed.
